3rd University of
Maryland Amateur
The University of Maryland Amateur is a 36-hole amateur tournament contested each July at the University of Maryland Golf Course in College Park. Top amateurs from around the metro region and beyond come to play each year. Archived results are below.
The 2007 tournament is scheduled for July 28-29 and proceeds from the tournament will benefit the new University of Maryland Junior Golf Program. If you or your company are interested in sponsoring the event and promoting local junior golf, please contact tournament director Chris Calabrese at ccalabre@umd.edu for details on sponsorship packages.
New in 2007, the winner of the championship flight (5.0 and below) will receive $750 in golf shop credit, which is the maximum allowed under USGA rules of amateur status.
Entries are accepted by mail or in person in the Golf Shop. Entry forms are below. If you are mailing in your form close to the entry deadline, please call Chris at (301) 314-9785 to verify receipt.
Q. Can I request my starting times? A. Times will be between 9:00 and 1:00 on both days. You may request a time on Saturday, but there are no guarantees. On Sunday, pairings are made based on 1st round scores, so no requests will be honored.
Q. I don't have a USGA handicap. Can I register for a flight based on my average score? A. No. In fairness to the rest of the field, if you do not have a handicap, you would have to compete at scratch in the championship flight.
